2002 Funded Projects

During the 2002 funding cycle, the Fund received forty-seven applications for small grants. Small grants are meant to catalyze projects that facilitate and encourage volunteer and student activities and/or leverage and support the volunteer work of organizations and institutions. Eight of these applications received funding.

In addition to its small grant program, the Fund encouraged applicants to submit planning grant proposals under the Legacy Project category. Successful Legacy Projects will be unique in their ability to provide long lasting impacts to Niagara County's environment and/or understanding of its environment. Legacy projects build on the traditional themes of the Fund, e.g., environmental education and restoration, and have broad appeal and benefit within Niagara County. To secure Legacy Project funding, applicants were required to submit a planning grant proposal to more fully develop their concepts. Final Legacy Project funding decisions will be based on the outcomes of the planning grant process. Groups awarded planning grant funds are listed below. An abstract is included for each project.
